Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Kofi Kinaata & Others Win At Ghana Music Honours 17

 

MUSIGA’s yearly Ghana Music Honors occurred finally on the night March 4, 2017, at the National Theater.The night saw VVIP, Sarkodie, MZvee, Stonebwoy, Medikal, Joey B, Joe Mettle and others strolling home as champs for the night.

The tasteful occasion likewise saw exciting exhibitions from ruling VGMA Artist of the Year EL, MzVee, growing vocalist Cina Soul, Adina, among others.

This year, specialists competed for categories in different classes including for Best Band Honor, Best DJ Honor, Afro Pop Artist Honor, Hiplife Artist Honor, Highlife Artist Honor Reggae/Dancehall Artist Honor, Gospel Artist Honor, Music Producer Honor, Best Music Video Honor, Most Promising Act Honor, and Best Male Artist Honor, Best Female Artist Honor, Best Group Honor, People’s Choice Artist Honor, Traditional Music Honor, Music Industry Development Honor, Music Promoter Honor, Evergreen Highlife Artist Honor, Evergreen Hiplife Artist Honor, Evergreen Gospel Artist Honor, and President’s Choice Honor.

Set up in 2012 by the Musicians Union of Ghana, the plan hopes to “develop the understanding, gratefulness and progression of the commitment of recorded music to the Ghanaian culture; from the creative and specialized legends of the past to the melodic leaps forward of future eras of music experts”, an official explanation clarifies.

MUSIGA’s annual Ghana Music Honours took place at  last night at the National Theatre, VVIP, Sarkodie, MZvee, Stonebwoy, Medikal, Joey B, Joe Mettle and others  walking home as winners for the night.

The classy event also witnessed thrilling performances from reigning VGMA Artist of the Year EL, MzVee, budding singer Cina Soul, Adina, among others.

This year, artists vied for honours in various categories including for Best Band Honour, Best DJ Honour, Afro Pop Artist Honour, Hiplife Artist Honour, Highlife Artist Honour Reggae/Dancehall Artist Honour, Gospel Artist Honour, Music Producer Honour,  Best Music Video Honour,  Most Promising Act Honour, and Best Male Artist Honour, Best Female Artist Honour, Best Group Honour, People’s Choice Artist Honour, Traditional Music Honour, Music Industry Development Honour,  Music Promoter Honour, Evergreen Highlife Artist Honour,  Evergreen Hiplife Artist Honour,  Evergreen Gospel Artist Honour, and President’s Choice Honour.

Set up in 2012 by the Musicians Union of Ghana in 2012, the scheme looks to “cultivate the understanding, appreciation and advancement of the contribution of recorded music to the Ghanaian society; from the artistic and technical legends of the past to the musical breakthroughs of future generations of music professionals”, an official statement explains.
